Peter Yarrow is best known as part of the 60's folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary. But whether part of the trio or solo, his decades of performances reflect music of conscience. His talents are directed at using music to convey a message of humanity and caring.

Bethany is the daughter of Peter Yarrow, so we expect that she'd have a sense of the folk tradition, but what she does with and to that tradition is nothing short of brilliant. Her voice, rich, dark, and true cuts right through to express all that the music needs. She has the rhythmic sensibility and depth of feeling to call forth the jazz and blues tradition and the breadth of textures to take a listener around the world. Then there's Rufus' five-string cello - played pizzicato, jazz style and bowed, incorporating the bass range and world music rhythms. It's a perfect chemistry. The duo sees themselves as roots...but the music touches jazz, gospel and something beyond. These are two artists who emerge with shining songs for a new time.

We are well known for teaching at a high level and for the quality of our instruction. We teach all levels, and we place special focus on total beginners.

Here you will learn tango in a friendly and supportive community of tango dancers. Our system of teaching tango has been developed over many years. It is structured and precise while also allowing our students to have fun and be creative.

We guarantee you’ll be dancing tango after your first lesson.

Dance Manahattan One-Day Dance Crash Courses and Workshops

One-Day Dance Crash Courses and Workshops in Swing, Salsa, Argentine Tango, West Coast Swing, Foxtrot,Waltz & Ballroom!

One-Day Crash Courses and Workshops are an excellent way for dancers to learn the basics or specific topics of dance. They take place in a single day, over an extended period of time. Although sometimes held on weeknights they more often occur on weekends. This can be an excellent opportunity to study for people with
schedules that do not permit attendance at consecutive, weekly evening classes or for those who want to review their basics!

Dance Manhattan pioneered the One-Day Crash Course, a marathon for basic students. We currently offer monthly crash courses in Swing, Salsa, Argentine Tango, and West Coast Swing . These are taught by a line-up of great instructors and require partners to rotate throughout the day.

Also on our monthly Crash Course schedule are the: "Couples Only" Crash Course - taught by a dance team, allows partners to dance exclusively together and highlights these dance favorites: Foxtrot, Waltz, Swing
and Salsa.

Each of our one-day Crash courses meets from 3 to 4 1/2 hours. They offer an exciting and progressive introduction to the basics of the dance while providing new material for those with moderate experience who may come back and join us month-after-month. These all day courses offer a great "taste" of dance.
